First post. What this blog is, what it isn't, and why I'm bothering with one in 2026.

This is the first post on the new portfolio. The bar for what shows up here is low — I'm using this space for short, opinionated notes about things I'm building or have just learned.
What lives here
- Build notes. Decisions I made on a project, why I made them, and what I'd do differently next time.
- Reading reactions. When something hits, I'd rather argue with it in writing than nod and forget.
- Tooling experiments. Small CLIs, dev-workflow tweaks, IDE configs that paid off.
Not here: tutorials, year-in-review posts, hot takes about industry drama.
Why bother
A blog is the cheapest form of leverage for an engineer. One post that helps a single person ship something they were stuck on returns more than a year of social media replies. I'm not optimizing for traffic — I'm optimizing for the conversations this surfaces.
Writing it down forces you to be exact about what you actually believe.
